Bacteriophages are tiny phage viruses that attack bacteria, and are useful in human medicine. A huge, invisible world of phage viruses are yet to be discovered. We explore or campus in search of these novel phages. We purify, visualize, and characterize new phages as part of an ongoing research project. Join us for a week of authentic scientific research in the field and at the laboratory bench alongside college professors as we explore the fascinating world of phage viruses and microbiology.

The Health Data Explorers Summer camp invites motivated high school students (rising Jr to Pre-Collage) to dive into real-world data science in health-related contexts. Homeschool students attend JA Finance Park® to experience their personal financial futures first-hand. JA Finance Park® is designed as a collaborative marketplace including financial services, education, insurance, entertainment, communications, utilities, and more. Upon entering the center, students receive a 'life situation' with job, income, education, and family scenarios. In this tablet-based program, students explore and learn about different budget categories, create a household budget, make purchasing decisions, and pay for their expenses.

Calling all homeschool families! Our Middle & High School sessions are drop off only. Stomp into some real life aquatic studies. Students will conduct testing on our local aquatic environments through macroinvertebrate samplings and chemical testing.

On a cold winter's morning, there’s nothing like having a breakfast of black oil sunflower seeds, or maybe a hot cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll. Your choice, of course, would depend on whether you’re a bird or a human! While the birds feed outside on the seeds, we’ll enjoy coffee and sweet rolls inside and discuss common winter birds in Missouri. You’ll learn how to identify feathered friends like woodpeckers and sparrows and rare winter birds, like the snowy owl and red-breasted nuthatch. This free program is for ages 7 and up. Pre-registration is required.
