Young people ages 9 to 16 will spend a fun summer with Good Journey in Black 2 the Land Summer Leadership Academy learning and having unique experiences. Young people will do STEM projects, learn to grow food, meditate and learn karate, lead community projects, learn African dance and KiSwahili, study history that relates to their present world experiences, write poetry and publish a collective poetry book, create art that inspires, and have great fieldtrip experiences. Young people will develop communication and leadership skills and learn to work collectively to accomplish goals. Four to six young people ages 16 to 25 have the opportunity to serve as youth mentors and receive a summer stipend. Scholarships are offered for youth participants, with preference given to underserved and underresourced families.
